Creative Home Designers: Pot Rack Project

A customer sent us an email along with photographs of a completed home improvement project. We had assisted him with the project by sharing our expertise and supplying the wrought iron European Welcome Mat that he craftily used to create a pot rack. It turned out very nicely. We don't always get to see the finished projects that we have been a part of and thought we'd share the email and a photo with you.

As promised, I’m sending you a few pictures of the pot rack we fashioned from the European welcome mats. Though not all the copper is displayed yet, I think these five pictures will give you a good 360 of the end product. Nothing about this ensemble was intended to be part of a pot rack. The main supports attached to the mats were bought at a feed and horse equipment store on Hwy 306; the anchors screwed into the ceiling beams and the connectors that attach to them are actually stainless steel, which I spray painted with a flat black, high heat product used on car headers and manifolds. They all came together quite nicely, with the added advantage that I have plenty of room between the pot rack and the ceiling to hold lids and other items that can’t be hung on the rack.

In case you’re wondering, the white ceramic bowl, though seemingly out of place with all the copper, is actually part of a three piece copper group used for making various types of candy. I have no intention of making candy; I’m quite content nibbling out of a box of Godiva chocolate. I’m easy to please.

Thanks again for all your help with this project. And, if any of your future clients want something special, that they’ll not see in any other house (unless they come to my house), feel free to use the design.

Bright Ideas Home Decor with Silicone Dipped Bulbs

We just got back from the Summer 2010 Home & Gift Show in Atlanta. We always find new items and gather new ideas on our shopping trips. But, one item especially caught our attention this time. We found these cute lights that you can decorate and use in so many ways. We are excited to offer our online customers these Silicone Dipped Bulbs for the holidays and everyday home decorating.

Silicone bulbs are adorable and so versatile you'll want to use them throughout the year. Use them in mantle-pieces, nightlights, string lights, sconces, candelabras, and chandeliers.

Here are a few ideas we gathered at the show:

Spray paint an old inexpensive chandelier found at a thrift store in black. Add the Ghost Glow Silicone Dipped Bulbs for a spooky Halloween.

Window candelabras look inviting throughout the year and are so much fun to dress up for the holidays. Use Pumpkin Bulbs in October. Tie a loden green scarf around each individual pillar. Change the look in the winter with the Snowman Bulb in a bright red tie.

Replace every third bulb in traditional string lights that you would use indoors only. (The bulbs are not guaranteed for outdoor use.)Use Soft Tipped Candle Glow Light Bulbs for a warm country look for everyday or special events. Tie ribbons on the pillars to match your theme.

One of my favorite times of the year is Spring. Not just because of the warm spring air and blooming plants but also all the great new products that arrive at our store. Ranging from birdfeeders to weathervanes to garden sculptures. My favorite new arrival has to be the Fairy Garden sculpture. If you are anything like me and most of the female population, you love fairies. This beatiful sculpture is made of aluminum and finished in a green verdigris. She will make any flower garden stand out even more beautifully. In a kneeling position she is about 2 feet tall with huge detailed wings that look almost like they were hand sculpted, not to mention the sweet little bird pirched in her palm. One of the reasons I love my job so much is because I get to talk to so many different people throughout the year. They share their life stories and give me some insight on the trials and tribulations of others. This time of year always makes me think about the courageous women that have gone through so much. It also makes me think of one my favorite pieces of jewelry. Its our "Believe for a Cure Silver & Leather Bracelet". It's intended to help you find the inspiration you need to keep believing.
